Meet IT Leadership

University Information Technology Services (UITS) is the University of Arizona's central IT unit, headed by the Chief Information Officer.

The work of UITS encompasses developing and managing the campus network and collaboration infrastructure, information security, high-performance research computing environments, enterprise applications, analytics and reporting needs, services and spaces that support student achievement, and coordinating with the campus's distributed IT work force.

Elliott Cheu

Dr. Elliott Cheu is a University Distinguished Professor of Physics at the University of Arizona. Since joining the university in 1996, he has held numerous leadership positions and is currently serving as the interim Chief Information Officer. Prior to his current role, Dr. Cheu served as the interim Senior Vice President for Research from August 2023 until November 2024. He continues to run a successful research program studying the fundamental particles and forces in the Universe and is one of the most highly cited researchers at the University of Arizona. His most recent research activities involve searching for evidence of dark matter performed at the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland.
