UA’s free HPC resources are popular and demand is increasing. Researchers from a broad spectrum of disciplines are exploring new areas such as machine learning and deep learning. The UITS Research Technologies group has been working to meet this new demand head on.

What would the Messier 87 black hole look like? UA researchers Dimitrios Psaltis, Feryal Ozel, Chi-kwan Chan, and Lia Medeiros used the El Gato system in the Computer Center's Research Data Center to model it before processing of the Event Horizon Telescope data was completed.
