Pronouns Coming to University Directory

Oct. 19, 2021

Option available for those who set pronouns in UAccess

The Campus Phonebook is adding pronouns to listings October 26. Pronoun listings are useful when a person has a first name that is ambiguous or unfamiliar, a person's identity doesn’t match the binary pronoun choices, or for anyone who wants to normalize sharing pronouns.

Phonebook pronouns are optional. If you are an employee and wish to list your pronouns:

  • Log in to UAccess Employee.
  • On the UA Employee Main Homepage, click on the Personal Information tile.
  • Select Gender Identity and Pronouns.
  • Choose your pronouns, and click Save.

Students are able to update pronouns in UAccess Student Center, as well.

For those who are both employees and students, you may add, remove or update your pronouns in UAccess Employee and/or UAccess Student. The phonebook will display from the system that was most recently updated. Once pronouns begin to appear in the phonebook on October 26, any future changes you make in UAccess will be reflected within 48 hours.
