What’s New in Tech for Fall 2025
Get ready for the start of school: student email moved, CatCard on your phone, new UAlerts app, and more.

Students, faculty and staff will find a lot of updates to tech services as the new school year starts. Make sure you’re up to date with all these changes!
- Student email. Students now send and receive new email at https://outlook.arizona.edu, the same system as faculty and staff. Email address is still NetID @arizona.edu.) They can also set up their email apps for the university Outlook account. Google apps are still available at google.arizona.edu. Read more about the email move.
- CatCard for digital wallets. CatCard is now available for Apple Wallet and Google Wallet for students, faculty and staff in Tucson and in-state university locations. Tap and go for payments and building access. Get started in the U of A app. More information is available at catcard.arizona.edu.
- SafeCats app. You’ll find numerous campus safety services in SafeCats, from a BlueLight alert right from your phone, to maps, support resources and more. It also replaces LiveSafe as the app to receive UAlerts messages. Get all the details at the Office of Public Safety.
- Tech Zone moves. The university is moving space assignments, so the Global Center and South Rec Center Tech Zone locations are closing. Watch for new locations this fall! You can still get in-person assistance with your personal tech and university service questions at the Main Library Tech Zone (downstairs) and the Student Union Memorial Center Tech Zone Lounge—see techzone.arizona.edu for hours.
- Information Security Awareness Training. This fall, faculty, staff and DCCs will be required to take their Annual Security Awareness Training or lose access to login. Take the 5-minute refresh training when you get your notice! If you go overdue, you will have to take the full 40-minute initial training. See the UAnnounce Memo for more information.
Tech Tips
Here are a few other tech tips to make your start of school smoother:
Students, walk to all your classrooms before the semester start so you aren’t scrambling to find the closest stairwell or elevator your first day! Log in to the U of A app to see your schedule and campus map.
Haven’t set up the Duo Mobile app for 2-factor authentication yet? It really is the most secure, fastest way to log in, and you can use it for more than your U of A NetID logins.
Set up your university Outlook email on your phone so that you can stay up to date or send a quick message on the go.
Faculty, UCATT can help you set up your D2L Brightspace site for your courses, along with other teaching technologies. And you classroom support staff (Classroom Technology Services for centrally scheduled classrooms) can help you get oriented to the tech in your classroom before the start of school.
You can look for more technology information and how-to's in the knowledge base at kb.arizona.edu. Or get support or visit a Tech Zone for help.
