University recognized with statewide honor
Congratulations to Barry Brummund, who has been recognized as the 2021 ArizonaCIO ORBIE Award winner in the Education category. Barry was nominated for this award by University Senior Vice President for Research & Innovation, Betsy Cantwell.
The ArizonaCIO of the Year ORBIE Awards honor chief information officers in seven key categories – Leadership, Global, Large Enterprise, Enterprise, Corporate, Public Sector, and Education who have demonstrated excellence in technology leadership. Finalists and winners are selected by an independent peer-review process, led by prior ORBIE recipients based upon leadership and management effectiveness, business value created by technology innovation and engagement in industry and community endeavors.
ArizonaCIO is the preeminent peer leadership network of Arizona chief information officers. ArizonaCIO is one of 21 chapters of the InspireCIO Leadership Network, a national membership organization comprised exclusively of CIOs from public and private businesses, government, education, healthcare and nonprofit institutions.

In accepting this award, Barry recognized that the award was not for himself, but for information technology at the University of Arizona. Barry expressed his gratitude to the University’s IT professionals and for the opportunity to be part of such an incredibly talented and dedicated community. Barry’s award is an immense honor for the University, and all that IT accomplished over the past year. Congratulations Barry!
