All Faculty/Staff Can Receive Email Starting Sept. 16

Sept. 16, 2019

The UA will be implementing the first step towards adding the capability of using for your UA email address. With this first step, no action is required.

Beginning Monday, September 16, 2019, all faculty, staff, emeritus, DCC, student worker (catworks), and departmental/service accounts will be able to RECEIVE email at <NetID> This change does not affect student email.

How does this work?

Email will continue to be RECEIVED at <NetID>, and both and addresses will be active. For example:

Wilbur Wildcat, with NetID wilbur, gives out his business card with However others may have had his "old" email address, Email sent to either address will be received in Wilbur's inbox. When Wilbur responds to an email, the "From" address will show

This change should not affect anyone with customizations applied (e.g. UA services (e.g. Office 365, Adobe, etc.) that use your address to log in will continue to use your address.

What does this mean?

After September 16th, faculty and staff may publicize <NetID> in their email signature, business cards, or other contacts listings to RECEIVE UA email. A team of campus IT professionals is working towards a larger implementation of being able to "Send As" <NetID> in 2020.

This phased approach of adopting as the primary email address has been made in response to the UAVoice request and many others who have supported this option for a simplified branding and email experience. UAVoice (formerly the Campaign for Common Sense) is a Universitywide initiative that is identifying opportunities to facilitate collaboration, encourage innovation, reduce frustration, and save both money and time.
