IT Operational Model
IT Operational Model
In spring 2024, the University of Arizona embarked on a process to restructure information technology (IT) across the institution to reduce information security risks and streamline IT service delivery. University Information Technology Services engaged in a comprehensive discovery process with leaders and IT staff and created an IT Restructure Advisory Council to arrive at a more sustainable IT operational model that aligns with the university’s instructional, research and service missions.
In April 2025, UITS implemented organizational changes to transition IT staff from a temporary reporting structure to a more sustainable, long-term operational model. The organizational changes associated with the IT Restructure process are focused on:
- Aligning IT staff in support, infrastructure, and web development roles with UITS enterprise teams to strengthen information security standards and improve the consistency of technical support and service delivery.
- Align staff from other IT functions that transitioned to UITS in March 2024 into Specialized Service Teams designed to support the unique IT needs of colleges and divisions in alignment with their specific missions.
With the new IT operational model in place, UITS will continue to make refinements and adjustments over time to ensure IT is meeting the needs of faculty, staff and students, while remaining agile and responsive to the university’s evolving needs.
