Lanita Collette

As the University’s Deputy CIO, Lanita leads multiple teams providing efficient, secure and robust technology services that are the critical foundation for enabling teaching, research, and the service mission of the University. She has been with the University of Arizona since 2017, first as the Chief Information Security Officer, and was appointed to Deputy CIO in September 2019. From December of 2023 until July of 2024 Collette served as Acting CIO.
Before working in IT, Collette was an archaeologist engaged in research on the Colorado Plateau. She has a BA in Anthropology from Bryn Mawr College and an MA in Archaeology from Arizona State University, and holds both Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certifications.
She is active in the higher education cybersecurity community having served as the co-chair as well as chair for the Educause Cybersecurity and Privacy Professionals conference committee, as faculty for the Educause Cybersecurity and Privacy Managers Institute and as a frequent presenter and contributor to Educause events and working groups. She is a graduate of the FBI CISO Academy and serves on the Eller MIS Cybersecurity Advisory Board.
