As commencement season approaches, UITS is proud to celebrate four of our several outstanding student workers who have balanced academics, professional growth, and Wildcat spirit with excellence: Hunter Del Rosario, Diego Garcia-Jimenez, Dalian Meraz, and Kobe Voss.

Hunter, Diego, and Kobe, all part of the 24/7 Support Center team, and Dalian, a valued Tech Zones team member, are preparing to graduate with degrees that reflect not only academic achievement, but also perseverance and passion. Hunter, Diego, Kobe, and Dalian are preparing to cross the commencement stage this spring, ready to turn years of hard work and hands-on IT experience into exciting new careers. From supporting the university community at the 24/7 Support Center and Tech Zones to balancing rigorous academic programs, each graduate has charted a unique path shaped by perseverance, passion, and Wildcat spirit.

For Hunter, his passion for technology was sparked early, inspired by his father’s decades-long career in IT. “Not necessarily following in his footsteps, but definitely taking inspiration,” Hunter shared. After starting in computer science, Hunter pivoted to Management Information Systems (MIS), seeking a more hands-on and practical path that blends business and technology. As he looks toward the future, Hunter is excited to continue his cybersecurity journey with Tucson Electric Power (TEP), where he currently interns. “I’m looking forward to the freedom of pursuing something bigger—something self-driven—and the opportunities that this degree opens up.”

Kobe Voss, also graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management Information Systems (MIS), has been a valued part of the 24/7 Support Center team. UITS proudly congratulates Kobe on his achievement and exciting future ahead.

Diego, obtaining his BSBA in finance, has followed a journey fueled by a curiosity about the mechanics of finance and business. “I’ve always had an interest in the way money works,” he said. Although his passion lies in finance, his work at the 24/7 Support Center helped him sharpen his communication and organizational skills – skills he knows will serve him well as he begins his post-graduate career in private equity at TSG Consumer Partners in San Francisco. “I’m excited to be a sponge,” he said. “There’s so much to learn as a professional in the real world that you just can’t get from the classroom.”

Dalian is earning his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer engineering, and his path to graduation was built on curiosity, perseverance, and resilience. “There were moments when I doubted if engineering was the right path for me," he shared. "But through all the challenges, I realized that growth comes from perseverance.” While working at the Tech Zones, Dalian strengthened both his technical skills and people skills – an experience he says will be invaluable as he pursues a career in engineering. Though he doesn’t have immediate plans lined up, he looks forward to finding opportunities in the electrical engineering field and hopes to travel and explore new places along the way.

When asked what advice they would share with others considering going to school, the graduates were unanimous: balance hard work with personal growth. “Have fun with it,” Hunter advised. “Study hard, but don’t lose sight of making the experience your own.” Diego echoed the sentiment, sharing a motto he lived by: “Work hard, play hard.” And Dalian added a simple but powerful reminder: “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.”

As they reflect on their journeys, each graduate expressed deep gratitude for the support they received along the way. Hunter credits his family for inspiring him to push forward, Diego thanked his UITS managers for their encouragement and flexibility, and Dalian gave a heartfelt shoutout to his family and his Theta Tau Chi Chapter for their unwavering support.

Congratulations to Hunter, Diego, Dalian, and Kobe! The entire UITS community is proud of your achievements and excited to see the incredible futures you are building. Bear Down and tackle the future!
