Robert Robbins

President of the University of Arizona

Dr. Robert C. Robbins joined the University of Arizona as president on June 1, 2017. Previously, he served as president and CEO of the Texas Medical Center (TMC) in Houston from 2012 to 2017. Prior to his time in Houston, he served as professor and chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University School of Medicine, founding director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, and president of numerous prestigious heart organizations, among other roles.

President Robbins is interested in strengthening existing relationships and building new collaborations to take the University of Arizona to even higher levels of achievement, working to solve the 21st century’s most complex, global challenges. He believes that UA is strongly positioned to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the new technologies that are fusing the physical, digital and biological worlds.
