Inside Look: The UITS Change Advisory Board
Meet the UITS Change Advisory Board (CAB). The CAB is a governing body composed of UITS staff who actively submit change requests for enterprise systems, fostering collaboration and informed decision-making. Open to UITS team members and key stakeholders involved in operational maintenance processes, these meetings create a space to discuss timelines for the processes related to system maintenance and updates. Service and application owners/managers are especially encouraged to participate, ensuring that each change enhances the reliability and innovation of the services we deliver to the university community.
Regular, weekly UITS CAB meetings are scheduled for Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. via Zoom to discuss any application and operational changes that could potentially disrupt services. The following topics may be covered:
- Discussion of and approval for upcoming maintenance and changes within UITS’ services and applications.
- Timing and communications surrounding upcoming maintenance and changes.
- Upcoming events that may require UITS services and applications to be changed or updated.
- Review of processes and procedures surrounding enterprise maintenance and UITS’ Systems Change Management.
- Reviewing Emergency or Maintenance Freeze Exceptions.
Representation often modulates, depending on active projects and maintenance work. The current system/platform representation on the CAB includes:
- ISO
- NetOps
- ServiceDesk
- Infrastructure
- Communications
- Service Continuity
- UAccess Student
- UAccess Employee
- UAccess Financials, Docuware, Concur Travel
- Analytics
The CAB uses several Sympa lists as communication channels. UITS-Announce, NetDiscuss, and NetManagers are used for general maintenance updates. Additionally, there is a Downtime list designed to offer information valuable to a non-IT audience. Depending on the topic, these lists are often forwarded and shared with other individuals or groups.
If you would like more information, wish to be added to one of the Sympa lists or wish to attend a CAB meeting, please feel free to contact Kevin Harper.
