For most teams across UITS, the back-to-school rush kicks into high gear in late summer. For Karina McCune, IT Support Manager for Tech Zones, the work begins months earlier. By late April, while many students were still wrapping up finals, Karina was already looking ahead to fall. This year’s preparations came with an added twist: 85% of her student workforce graduated in May, a testament to their long-term commitment and growth in the role, but also a challenge in rebuilding the team.

From coding to User Experience (UX), cybersecurity to social media, our grads have contributed meaningfully to University Information Technology Services (UITS) while pursuing degrees across a wide range of disciplines. Each of these grads, and all those across UITS, are moving into their next chapters with knowledge, purpose, and pride.

As commencement season approaches, UITS is proud to celebrate four of our several outstanding student workers who have balanced academics, professional growth, and Wildcat spirit with excellence: Hunter Del Rosario, Diego Garcia-Jimenez, Dalian Meraz, and Kobe Voss.

The University of Arizona's CatCard mobile pilot has launched, offering the same access and convenience as the physical card. This upgrade streamlines campus life by reducing the need for physical cards, improving efficiency, safety, and sustainability. The initiative has already replaced 6,500 cards and continues to expand, with plans for wider integration across mobile wallets.
