Barry Brummund Appointed as CIO
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Brummund as Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective Monday, April 2, 2018.
In his new role, Barry will provide visionary leadership and strategic planning for information technology across the institution and will ensure operational excellence of University Information Technology Services (UITS). He will advance cutting-edge information technology, evaluate trends, prioritize investment opportunities, and collaborate with university leadership to leverage IT in new ways that support the university’s strategic plan.
Barry will assume management of the UITS executive leadership team and day-to-day business operations, reporting directly to me. This will allow me to devote more time and resources towards developing an integrated institutional information strategy to support student success, scholarship, and research.
Barry has over 20 years of experience consulting with universities across the country, including leadership roles during Enterprise Resource Planning implementations at Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and University of Arizona. From 2008-2012, Barry served as a key contributor on the Mosaic Project, a five-year, $80 million upgrade to administrative systems at the University of Arizona and implementation of a new business intelligence system. In 2013, Barry served as our Deputy CIO. Barry was most recently Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning and Analysis, where he worked closely with IT, leading the implementation of UA’s new planning system (Adaptive Planning) and developing a new financial structure for UITS.
We are very fortunate to have someone with Barry’s experience and leadership joining UITS.
