IT Discovery and Organizational Design

On March 4, 2024, staff in information technology roles in colleges and divisions were centralized under a new department within University Information Technology Services. This change was made as part of the University’s IT Centralization process and recommended as part of the Financial Action Plan. 

Supervisors who feel they have an employee who should be mapped to a different function, family or level may submit a request to have a position reviewed by the Division of Human Resources. The requests will then be processed as they align with the phases shown in the graphic below.

  • Requests to remap into or out of the IT function are part of the first phase, called the Remapping Period, which will last from March 4 – June 30, 2024. 
  • Requests to remap within the IT function, to another level or family, are in the second phase, called the Internal IT Reorganization. They will be addressed on an ongoing basis, with more focus after July 1, 2024. 


IT Remapping Process

Submission deadline

Please submit requests to be remapped into or out of the IT function and associated documentation by Friday, March 22, 2024 in order to have requests processed by June 30, 2024. Requests received after this deadline will continue to be accepted however, they may be processed after June 30. 

Remapping Process

During the IT Position Remapping Process, UITS, the Division of HR and the requesting unit will take a holistic look at the impacted individual(s) to better understand the business need, the work the individual is performing, and impact to the University career architecture. Please see the chart above for more information about the process.
