I am pleased to announce that after much campus and constituency consultation, Lanita Collette has been selected to be the University of Arizona’s chief information security officer (CISO) effective February 27, 2017.

Lanita will join the CIO leadership team and report directly to the vice president for information technology, while working closely with senior administration, academic leaders, and the campus community. In this mission critical role, the CISO serves as an advocate for the university’s total information security needs and is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive information security strategy to optimize the security posture of the institution.

Lanita comes to the UA from Northern Arizona University, where she has served as CISO since 2012. She has more than 15 years of experience in leading technology teams in higher education and has a proven record of success in building collaborative teams across complex environments.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Lanita as she joins the UA community. I would also like to thank the search committee for their dedication and hard work and Derek Masseth, deputy CIO, for taking on the additional role of interim CISO during the past several months.
