UITS Employee Resources

New employees of University Information Technology Services, as well as long-term employees, can find useful information here on staff resources available at the University of Arizona.

For staff information specific to the UITS organization, visit Central IT's Intranet space. (Use UA's VPN if you are accessing from outside the campus network.)

Human Resources

Alerts and Emergencies

  • UAlert is an all-campus notification system operated by the Critical Incident Response Team (UACIRT). Subscribe at cirt.arizona.edu/ualert in order to receive messages about campus emergencies via text and/or email. 
  • All UITS employees are automatically subscribed by email.arizona.edu address to UITS Alerts regardless of location. (All non-UITS occupants of the Computer Center are also subscribed.) You can subscribe additional email or text addresses to UITS Alerts at emergencyalerts.uits.arizona.edu.
You should have a card with emergency instructions in your office. If you do not, see Sarah Swanson in CC 229.
 

Box@UA

Get 50GB of storage space, accessible from everywhere, for your work files. Go to Box@UA for more information.
 

CatCard

The University of Arizona CatCard is used for identification purposes, to access doors, conference and break rooms, and is to be worn at all times when in the Computer Center. There is a $25.00 charge for lost cards.
 

Email, Calendaring, and Instant Messaging

UAConnect365 is a Microsoft Office 365 service with email and calendaring (can be accessed with Outlook), and instant messaging (Teams). The Outlook Web Access (OWA) client is available at office.com.
 
Faculty and Staff can also get a CatMail account (Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals) for sharing calendars and documents with students. This will give you all Google Apps except email. Get your account at account.arizona.edu.
 

Employee Engagement Council

The UITS staff members on the Employee Engagement Council support communication and engagement within UITS. Use the EEC Feedback Form for your questions or suggestions.
 

Meal Plans

Employees can sign up for the Student Union's Faculty/Staff Meal Plan, and use money stored on the CatCard for dining at the Student Unions and other locations around campus. Each deposit to the Faculty/Staff meal plan receives a 10% bonus.
 

Parking and Transportation Services

Technical Support

University systems/accounts or your own personal computer issues: the 24/7 Support Center
  • via phone by calling 520-626-TECH (8324).
  • in person at the 24/7 Lounge in the Main Library, lower level.
  • via chat/remote desktop session at support.arizona.edu.
  • online via ServiceNow. You will be provided with a reference number that will allow the 24/7 to easily track requests.
University-owned machines: UITS Desktop Support
UITS departmental desktops, laptops, printers, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Submit a request to via email (with as many details as possible) to UITS-computersupport@list.arizona.edu.
 

Time Reporting for Payroll

University of Arizona staff are required to submit bi-weekly online timesheets through UAccess Employee. Information on how to use UAccess Employee is found in the UAccess Community.
 

Training

The following are required training:

  • All-Employee Security Awareness Training
  • Online Harassment Prevention Education Program
  • Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Training (contingent on position)

UA Virtual Private Network (VPN)

If you are working from home or elsewhere outside the campus network, you may need to establish a VPN (virtual private network) to access campus online resources. See the VPN information page for more information.
 

Zoom

Zoom is widely used for meeting remotely. Your University of Arizona Zoom account is automatically created the first time you log into the portal at arizona.zoom.us. Find out more about the Zoom service and the Zoom app.
