Shibboleth is software that enables a single sign-on to be used to grant access to multiple University of Arizona websites. It allows UA sites to make authorization decisions for granting individual access to secure online resources.
Via the University of Arizona's membership in InCommon, Shibboleth also makes the UA NetID a login to online tools at other institutions, including Research.gov, the National Institutes of Health, CILogon, EDUCAUSE, and JSTOR.
Shibboleth provides authenticated identity information to University of Arizona online tools as well as InCommon partner tools to confirm that the person signing in is:
- Affiliated with UA
- Either a student or a faculty or staff member
- From a particular department
- Eligible for access due to other required attributes
Access to UA resources by InCommon partners can be similarly controlled.
Request access or manage Shibboleth accounts at the UA Integration Toolbox.
This service is available to UA IT professionals.
