Google Drive Desktop App Change
Have you seen news that Google Drive is being discontinued? There’s no need to worry. Google Drive is here to stay—the files and folders you have stored in your CatMail Google Drive are safe. But Google's downloadable application Drive for Mac/PC is being replaced.
In July 2017, Google released a new application called Backup and Sync, which replaces Drive for Mac/PC. Like Drive for Mac/PC, you can download Backup and Sync and create a Google Drive folder on your desktop. From there you can link to your cloud storage, giving you access to your files even while you are offline.
But Backup and Sync does so much more! You can back up photos on your computer to Google Photos, and even can back up your computer folders like your desktop, documents, and more to the Drive. You can also install the application on multiple computers, so you can access files from all of your desktops right from the Google Drive website.
Starting March 12, 2018, Drive for Mac/PC will no longer work. If you’ve been using that application, make sure to upgrade to Backup and Sync. Even if you forget, you will still be able to access your files online at catmail.arizona.edu.
