Types of 800 Toll Free Services Available
Types of 800 Services for On-Campus Locations
If your department has University of Arizona telephone service; phone numbers starting with 520-621, 520-626, 602-827 or 928-782; UITS offers three types of inbound service. The basic calling area of these services is the United States and its possessions. Possessions are defined as countries within the 809 area code and include Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Canada may be added to the basic calling area at time of installation at no additional charge.
Associated Toll Free Service: allows incoming calls to be forwarded to a University number. The service does not require additional equipment investment or new cabling if an existing number is used to receive calls. Note: Incoming Toll Free calls are indistinguishable from other incoming calls made to the University number.
Dedicated Toll Free Service: delivers the Toll Free number to the jack, where it can be used with an analog telephone line. This service should be considered if it is important to identify an incoming call as a call to the Toll Free line.
Secondary Toll Free Service: allows the Toll Free number to be programmed as a call appearance on an ISDN or VoIP set. This allows the incoming call to be identified as a Toll Free line call and requires no change to the equipment or cabling.
Types of 800 Services for Off-campus Locations

This service typically uses an existing telephone line and calls to the Toll Free number are forwarded to the identified telephone line. The basic calling area of this Toll Free 800 service is the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands. Canada can be added to the basic calling area at no additional charge.
