NetID passwords must be a minimum of 10 characters in length and can include both upper-case and lower-case letters, numbers, and special characters. All passwords are strength-checked prior to acceptance to encourage choosing a “strong” password that cannot be easily guessed. For more detailed information visit the Useful Links section below.
How the New Grace Period Extension on NetID Password Changes Works
Because so many campus systems are tied to your UA NetID, it is important to update all of your application logins when changing your password. For example:
- UA Mobile
Forgetting to update your login information on these applications could lead to an account lockout, so UITS provides a grace period to give NetID holders time to update all of their login information across all devices.
After a password change, the system monitors the NetID account for login attempts with an incorrect password. If such attempts are made, you will receive an email with information about them to help you determine if those attempts are being made by someone else.
The grace period expires two days after the initial password change, so be sure to have your password updated on all applications across all devices.
