Colocation Opportunities

Associated Service:
Research Computing Colocation

Overview

Colocation space in the Research Data Center (RDC) is available for research computing systems purchased and administered by Colleges, Departments and research projects. The policies and procedures for requesting and allocating RDC space/power/cooling/access/networking are determined by research IT governance group(s) designed by the Research Computing Governance Committee.

Costs

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Office of the Vice President for Research (VPR), Space Committee and Deans of the Colleges have provided the costs for renovation of the RDC. At this time, it is assumed that there will be no fees associated with use of the data center for research HPC/HTC/Storage systems, i.e., monthly or annual 'space/power/cooling' fees.

Initial installation costs associated with connecting colocated equipment to the power, network, and chilled water cooling systems (cables, plumbing, etc.) may be assessed.

Administration Services

Currently UITS Operations and Systems does not have plans to provide Linux/Unix or Windows system administration services for research systems colocated in the RDC.
